so lipstick-wearing 6-year old tween sensation Justin Bieber's latest single, "Love Me", came out this week. The song is basically a rip-off samples The Cardigans' hit single, "Lovefool", which came out back in 1996. Upon hearing it, I think:

no seriously. it sounds like he did. but, goddamn it, my natural musical resistance has failed me. Unfortunately. Yes, I actually like the song. (Don't look at me like that.)

well, he is a budding singer from Paris.

and yes, it's spelled with two "i"s. why? He explains, "les deux "i" c'est juste pour faire sourire" meaning, "the two i's are just put there for fun." (if you're French, I'm sorry for the poor translation. i only speak un peu.)

Recently, he just got signed by Perez Hilton on his new label Perezcious Music.

He's kinda like the French version of Mika. he even looks like him! basically he makes eccentric and happy pop.

apparently, people were ripping on Kelly Clarkson recently because her latest single, "Already Gone" is eerily similar to Beyonce's hit "Halo".

and who can you blame for that? Ryan Tedder, lead singer of the band OneRepublic, who wrote both songs.

what has been done is that Kelly has denied the allegations, while we have yet to wait for Beyonce's team to comment.

Ahh. This case now involves the clever euphemisms for a certain f-word. I love both songs. I love Britney. But I have to give it to Danny O'Donoghue and crew though. Aside from being my "current obsessions" as I like to call them, doesn't "If you see Kay, tell her I love her" make more sense and pleasing to hear than "All the boys and all the girls are begging to If U Seek Amy."? I mean, since when did Brit Brit pull a Tila Tequila?

ok. so they're both Canadian. (SOS from Vancity, Drake from Toronto.) both songs are top 5 hits in Canada. and the songs talk about virtually the same thing, about a girl being, uh, the best they ever had. but, State of Shock gets my vote because not only are they from my hometown, they don't sound like Lil Wayne clones and are not from Degrassi.

I say both since Hedley are one of my fave local bands and TDG's song has a lot of meaning and depth.

American superstar Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958 and entertained audiences nearly his entire life. His father, Joseph Jackson, had been a guitarist but was forced to give up his musical ambitions following his marriage to Katherine (Scruse). Together they prodded their growing family's musical interests at home. By the early 60s the older boys Jackie, Tito and Jermaine had begun performing around the city; by 1964 Michael and Marlon had joined in.

A musical prodigy, Michael's singing and dancing talents were amazingly mature and he soon became the dominant voice and focus of "The Jackson 5." An opening act for such soul groups as the O-Jays and James Brown, it was Gladys Knight (not Diana Ross) who officially brought the group to 'Berry Gordy''s attention, and by 1969 the boys were producing back-to-back chart-busting hits as Motown artists ("I Want You Back," "ABC," "Never Can Say Goodbye," "Got to Be There," etc.). As a product of the 70s, the boys emerged as one of the most accomplished black pop/soul vocal groups in music history, successfully evolving from a Temptations-like group act to a disco phenomenon.

Solo success for Michael was inevitable, and by the 80s he had become infinitely more popular than his brotherly group. Record sales consistently orbited, culminating in the biggest-selling album of all time, "Thriller" in 1982. A TV natural, he ventured rather uneasily into films, such as playing the Scarecrow in The Wiz (1978), but had much better luck with elaborate music videos.

In the 90s the down side as an 80s pop phenomenon began to rear itself. Michael grew terribly child-like and introverted by his peerless celebrity. A rather timorous, androgynous figure to begin with, his physical appearance began to change drastically and his behavior grew alarmingly bizarre, making him a consistent target for scandal-making, despite his numerous charitable acts. Two brief marriages -- one to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley -- were forged and two children produced by his second wife during that time, but the purposes behind it appeared image oriented. Despite it all, Michael Jackson's passion and artistry as a singer, dancer, writer and businessman are unparalleled, and it is these prodigious talents that will ultimately prevail over the extremely negative aspects of his seriously troubled adult life.

For it all to end on June 25, 2009, with his sudden death at age 50 of a cardiac arrest just as he was just coming out of a four-year reclusive period and rehearsing for a sold-out London concert "comeback" in July seems uncommonly cruel and tragic. Despite a number of surgeons' claims that Jackson has undergone multiple nasal surgeries as well as a forehead lift, thinned lips and cheekbone surgery, Jackson wrote in his 1988 autobiography "Moon Walk" that he only had two rhinoplastic surgeries and the surgical creation of a cleft in his chin, while attributing puberty and diet to the noticeable change in the structure of his face.

Ordered to pay Debbie Rowe $60,000 for legal fees in their battle for custody over of their two children. Los Angeles Judge Robert Schnider gave Jackson until 28 September to obey the order. LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Times is reporting pop star Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50 after being rushed to hospital in a coma.

The newspaper cites city and law enforcement sources in the report.

Earlier, the Times reported that the self-proclaimed "King of Pop" had been taken to hospital by paramedics, and was not breathing when they arrived.

The celebrity gossip site TMZ.com quoted Jackson's father as saying "he is not doing well."

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. local time.

TMZ quoted another unnamed Jackson family member as saying that Michael is in "really bad shape" and that his brothers are headed to UCLA.

Word of Jackson's situation prompted rampant media speculation, triggering a number of unconfirmed reports that the singer had died.

Media helicopters were hovering over the L.A. hospital and the sprawling estate where Jackson had reportedly been staying.

News of the emergency came as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

in case if anyone doesn't know, she was one of the original Charlie's Angels. (no, not the one with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu). the one from the 1970's.

Fawcett died in hospital in Los Angeles surrounded by friends and family shortly before 9.30 am (1630 GMT) following a three-year battle with anal cancer, reports said.

Speculation that Fawcett's death was close at hand had mounted earlier Thursday after veteran ABC television interviewer Barbara Walters said the actress had been given her last rites.

Walters made the disclosure in comments to the "Good Morning America" breakfast television show.

"I'm not sure if she's going to make it through the day," Walters said. "She's had her last rites."

Walters said close family and friends including long-time companion Ryan O'Neal were gathering at Fawcett's hospital bedside in Los Angeles.

"This is all he wants to do is be with her," Walters said of O'Neal.

Earlier this week it was revealed that O'Neal planned to marry Fawcett, who has been battling cancer for three years.

"I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed," an emotional O'Neal told Walters.

O'Neal, 68, and Fawcett had been romantically involved off-and-on since 1982. The couple had a son together but never married.

Thoughts go out to family and friends,  losing someone is heartbreaking, especially someone who was a great inspiration.

After Perez Hilton's mishap [beating?] he decided to explain himself and that he really didn't mean to say that word f***** to the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am.

This statement, he says, is "from the heart" and wishes that y'all can understand him.

I was attacked from behind without warning and repeatedly punched in the head in a cold, disgusting and unnecessarily violent manner by Polo Molina, the road manager for the Black Eyed Peas, who I did not even speak with that evening. I did not share any words with him and his assault on me was completely unprovoked. I feel like everything happens for a reason and I leave this traumatic experience as a person with more compassion. Specifically, there was an instance last year when actor Jesse Metcalfe was attacked outside of a Hollywood nightclub by a fellow entertainer. I did not condone the violence, but I did make light of that situation. I regret that. Sincerely. There are many ways to deal with disagreements, both good and bad, but violence is never the answer. Never. I now know that first-hand. It should not be condoned, promoted or accepted. No one "deserves" to be the victim of violence. No one "has it coming." NO ONE. And victims should not be ridiculed. I look forward to marching for equality in Washington, D.C. this October. And I look forward to standing up for my rights in a Toronto courtroom shortly, as I fully intend to seek every lawful remedy against the man that attacked me."

so yesterday, I was getting my weekly fix of Jon and Kate + 8, and it was pretty intense. Though I knew it was going to happen anyway.

let me repeat the title again. well, maybe put it into something digestible, since it's going to get nasty:

Jon and Kate Gosselin are no more.   In other words, they filed for divorce.

i feel for their 8 kids Cara, Madelyn (aka Mady), Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Colin, and Joel. they're all so young.

though after all the shit they went through, I think they made the right decision.

shame on you TLC reality TV! (although y'all are fun to watch)

 

Update: The show will be suspended from now until August 3 when a new season begins. so they still want to continue the show? they've gotta come up with a better name. say, Kate With 8 (Jon is Gone) or whatever.

Perez Hilton claimed to be assaulted by a member of the Black Eyed Peas' entourage.

TORONTO - Police have made an arrest in the wake of claims by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton that he was punched in the eye by the manager of the Black Eyed Peas following the MuchMusic Video Awards.

Hilton - who was a presenter at Sunday's raucous show - sent a series of Twitter messages early today claiming he'd been assaulted by singer Will.i.am and his security guards.

He wrote: "I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said a man was arrested and charged with assault after an incident near a downtown bar at about 3 a.m.

Vella would not confirm the identity of the victim, but said he sustained minor injuries.

Will.i.am posted a video on his own website denying the incident and claiming a fan was the one who got close to Hilton.

The Black Eyed Peas appeared at the MuchMusic Video Awards as performers and won the award for best international video for their hit "Boom Boom Pow."

Hilton - whose real name is Mario Lavandeira - alleges in a video posted to his website that he was punched in the eye by Black Eyed Peas manager Polo Molina.

"God knows it was not a random fan that hit me," he said.

Hilton said Will.i.am had approached him after the awards and demanded the blogger stop writing about the Black Eyed Peas on his website.

Liborio Molina, 36, of California has been charged with one count of assault. He's set to appear in court Aug. 5 in Toronto.

like, I like the BEPs, but I'm on Perez's side here: if he doesn't like them, they don't need to physically abuse him. It's his personal opinion. and Will.I.Am is being a bit too defensive on his part. lying is definitely not the way to go my friend.
